Čmelíny: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Čmelíny was laid out as a traditional old Bohemian circular village settlement. In the middle of the village square stands the Chapel of the Virgin Mary in a prominent location; the small sacred building dates from the second half of the 19th century and is a traditional cultural and historical element of the rural landscape in the southern Plzeňsko region. A pond lies beside it.

Villagescape and History

The first written mention of Čmelíny dates from 1384. Ervín de Stmelin is regarded as a lay brother of the Cistercian monastery in Nepomuk.

Nature and Terrain

In the vicinity of Čmeliny lies the Bouřidla natural monument, with an abundant occurrence of common juniper. The natural monument covers 11.4092 hectares and was first designated on 15 November 1990.

The eastern part of the Čmeliny area has significantly more pronounced terrain and land-cover differentiation. The Sejpy are clearly visible and reach a height of approximately 1 to 1.5 metres.

Paths and Routes

The juniper forest at Bouřidla is most easily reached from Čmeliny via a field track; the route is slightly longer than one kilometre.

The TT 0221 (124) tourist route, the St. James Way, runs from Nepomuk via Tojice and Podhůří to Lnáře. A cycle route runs westwards from the eastern edge of Kladrubce to Tojice.
