Culture and history
Postřekov brings its regional history to life through several independent exhibitions. The Muzeum krojů presents a permanent exhibition of Chod costumes, particularly the costumes of the Upper Chods. It is housed in the building of the former elementary school in Postřekov.
The Hasičské muzeum combines various chapters of firefighting history: the old fire station displays hand pumps, while the former school boiler room contains motor pumps and firefighting equipment. The collection comprises 24 motor pumps, six hand pumps – including three horse-drawn ones –, one steam pump and three fire engines.
The Pamětní síň obce offers a permanent exhibition on the history of Postřekov. It has been on display since 2002 in the municipal office building in Postřekov and can be visited by telephone appointment. The Postřekov Masopust, the largest cultural event in the municipality, is also one of the community’s defining cultural events.
Nature
About half a kilometre from Postřekov, the Postřekovské rybníky form a protected complex of more than 20 managed ponds. The wetland is home to more than 300 species of vascular plants and provides nesting sites for many bird species.
Another landscape area is Skalky na Sádku, a natural monument in the Český les biogeographical region, in the southern Čerchovský les subregion. There, a ridge of rugged rocks several hundred metres long runs through a mixed forest. A hiking trail runs along the western boundary of the natural monument and serves as a cross-country ski trail in winter.
