Mýto V Čechách: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

The history of Mýto V Čechách dates back to 1296: the Church of St. Stephen was already standing when Mýto was first mentioned in writing.

Culture

The Church of St. Stephen features early 16th-century frescoes depicting the Last Judgment, Saint Christopher and the Passion of Christ. Among others, the extensive crypt beneath the church is the burial place of Pastor J. I. Libertin, who served in Mýto from 1721 to 1756.

St. John the Baptist’s Church was built around 1350 as a chapel and was originally dedicated to Saint John the Evangelist. After a fire during the Thirty Years’ War, it was rebuilt between 1680 and 1682. Its paintings, as well as its carved benches decorated with the town coat of arms and guild coats of arms, attract particular attention.

The Chapel of St. Adalbert was consecrated in April 1854 and built in a vernacular classicist style.

Nature

The 56-hectare Štěpánský rybník pond is used for fish farming and recreation.

Trails

The “Stromořadí Svatopluka Čecha” lime-tree avenue, planted in 1906, follows the route of the former Zlatá cesta and leads to the Church of St. Stephen.

The Chapel of St. Adalbert stands on a hill north of Mýto and can be reached via a blue-marked hiking trail. An annual pilgrimage takes place there on the feast day of Saint Adalbert. From here, there are expansive views of the surrounding area.
