Holoubkov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
In Holoubkov, the Holoubkovský rybník stretches from the village centre for approximately one kilometre in the direction of Mýto as a 14.5-hectare pond. In the forest lies the Hamerský rybník, also known as Lamacký or Lamanický, approximately 0.5 kilometres below Holoubkov. The Holoubkovský potok is considered the most significant watercourse in this part of the Rokycany District.
Water and Landscape
Further south of Holoubkov, the Trhoň Massif rises. Together with the surrounding forests, it forms Trhoň Nature Park. Paths run through the forests across picturesque slopes offering views of the surrounding area.
Trails
Cycle Route 2158 from Rokycany to Strašice passes through Holoubkov. The red KČT hiking trail 0209 from Rokycany to Zbiroh also runs through the village. A blue connecting route leads through Holoubkov to the Nad Mýtem signpost.
History and Culture
The history of Holoubkov is closely connected with iron smelting and the development of ironworks and machine-building companies, which are among the oldest in Bohemia. Next to the Holoubkovský rybník, a new blast furnace was completed in 1662 on behalf of the Royal Chamber. In 1840, the local machine-building works produced its first manually operated lathe and is among the oldest manufacturers of machine tools in the Czech Republic.
The Markova Villa in Holoubkov, house number 123, is registered as an immovable cultural monument. In addition, an archaeological area of Category I has been designated in Holoubkov, with documented or reasonably presumed archaeological finds from prehistory and from the Middle Ages through the modern period.
Events and local products are also among the documented aspects of the village. The event “Slet a pálení čarodějnic” was held in Holoubkov for its 14th edition, featuring a costume competition, a disco, prize competitions, sausage grilling and refreshments. In the centre of Holoubkov, there is a self-service stand that is regularly restocked with Farm Liblín’s own seasonally available products.
