Hlohovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Nový zámek is designated as an immovable cultural monument. Starý zámek fortress was first mentioned in 1519 and features Gothic, Renaissance, and Baroque architectural elements.

History and Architecture

Construction of Nový zámek, which remained unfinished, began at the end of the 18th century; the building was modified in the first half of the 19th century. The fully enclosed complex consists of a château building and farm buildings that together form a rectangular courtyard. Starý zámek is a masonry building made up of two wings arranged at right angles to each other, each with its own roof.

Churches and Memorial Sites

At the western edge of Hlohovice, the Church of the Most Holy Trinity was built between 1727 and 1734 according to a design by the Baroque architect František Ignác Prée. The presbytery faces west, while the façade faces east. The Church of St. Martin and the Church of St. Peter are located in the vicinity of Hlohovice.

At the Doubí memorial site stands a burial mound with a stone cross in the middle, erected in 1847. The Doubí memorial site is located on the route from Svinná towards Kamenec, on the right-hand side. In front of the school building in Hlohovice stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1766.

Landscape and Surroundings

The Holý vrch mountain is located in the vicinity of Hlohovice. Nearby are the Rovnička hill [Radnice u Rokycan] and the Vyhlídka hill [Kamenec u Radnic]. In the wider regional surroundings are the Hřeben mountain, as well as the ruins of Týřov and the ruins of Valdek.

Location and Orientation

Hlohovice is located on road II/233 between Radnice and Zvíkovec. Hlohovice lies entirely outside the railway network and has no railway line. No marked hiking or cycling trails pass through Hlohovice.
