Architecture, music and landscape give Lužany a clearly defined profile.

Culture

Lužany Chateau was converted in 1886–1887 into a two-storey building with a six-storey clock tower. The ground floor houses an exhibition about the work and legacy of Josef Hlávka.

The chateau is not intended for visits by the general public. Access for professionals is only possible by exception, subject to prior agreement with the president and the board of trustees of the foundation.

The chapel at Lužany Chateau is also closely associated with Josef Hlávka. Josef Hlávka commissioned Antonín Dvořák’s Mass in D major, Op. 86, for the consecration of the chapel in 1887. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary, Saint Wenceslas and Saint Anthony is dedicated to these three saints. It was built in Josef Hlávka’s characteristic style with Byzantine elements; the interior paintings are by the Viennese painter Karl Jobst.

Educational trail

The “Living Memories of the Lužany Landscape” educational trail was ceremonially opened in Lužany on 22 March 2015 and comprises eight stations.

Mount Běleč is located in the vicinity of Lužany. The nearby area also includes Lužanská hora hill [Lužany - Zelené] and Březník hill [Příchovice u Přeštic]. In the wider regional surroundings lies Mount Radyně.

The Lužany protected area safeguards a preserved remnant of the meandering riverbed of the Úhlava.
