Nature

The Kakejcov protected area is both a natural monument and a European Site of Community Importance (SCI) for the protection of the great crested newt. The Kakejcov natural monument consists of a small forest pond, a cultivated meadow, and the edge of a forest. It protects the critically endangered great crested newt (Triturus cristatus).

Things to Do

Kakejcov is located along the route between Mirošov and Spálené Poříčí. Several marked hiking trails and an educational trail run through Kamínky Nature Park. The views in Kakejcov are considered particularly rewarding for cyclists.

Culture

The Kamýk fortress once stood on the site of today’s Kamínky farmstead. The rebuilt chapel in Kakejcov was designed in such a way that elements of the former chapel were preserved. In the wider regional surroundings of Kakejcov are the Zřícenina Valdek ruins, the Svatý Martin Church, the Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral church, and the U Svatého Petra Church.
