Villagescape and history

The original village centre of Trokavec is an elongated round village lined with former farmsteads. In front of the former school building, now the seat of the municipal office, stands a memorial to those who fell in the First World War. East of the village green, a newly built bell tower commemorates an earlier bell tower that was demolished in the 1950s.

The landscape around Trokavec also contains indications of a military training area that existed there from 1927 to 2016. The past therefore remains present both in the village centre and in the surrounding landscape, without the history of the village being limited to a single building.

Nature at CHKO Brdy

CHKO Brdy lies directly behind Trokavec and makes the village a starting point for visits to this protected area. Nearby is Trokavecká skála at an altitude of 706 metres; it is considered a destination for a climb from Trokavec. Nearby Okrouhlík reaches an altitude of 707 metres and has adjacent protruding Buližník rocks offering an interesting view.

The mountains Nad Moráskem, Praha, Hlava and Štěrbina are also located around Trokavec. Their names complement the landscape around the village with several distinct elevations, while Trokavecká skála and Okrouhlík are described in greater detail with their elevations and rock formations.

Hiking route from the village centre

The hiking route “K Padrťským rybníkům pěšky” begins and ends in Trokavec. It is easy and has only slight, gradual inclines. Its starting point is in the village centre; initially, it follows the marked cycle route 2154.

In Trokavec, Hospůdka Na Pančavě offers an opportunity to stop for refreshments along the hiking route. Thus, the described route includes not only its beginning and end in the village, but also a named refreshment stop along the way.

Culture in the wider region

The wider region around Trokavec is home to the Zřícenina Valdek ruins as well as the churches of Svatý Martin, Plzen Barholomaeus Cathedral and U Svatého Petra.
