Radnice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
History and Culture
Radnice Castle is an early Baroque château built before 1673; its present appearance dates from after 1719. Around 1745, a significant Baroque building was constructed in Radnice at the expense of Jan Václav z Bubna a Litic, probably based on a design by Kilián Ignác Dientzenhofer.
The Muzeum Josefa Hyláka was founded in 1892 as the first museum in the Rokycany District. It is housed in a burgher house from the first third of the 18th century, which later became part of the château complex. An ecocentre that can be visited is located in the Radnice synagogue. The historic beer cellars of Radnice are open during the summer season from April to October; guided tours are also available outside the tourist season on request.
Nature and Trails
The Jewish cemetery of Radnice lies approximately 1.5 km southeast of the town at the edge of the forest and contains 210 burial sites with epitaphs in Hebrew, Czech and German. Near Radnice, the Ovčín locality is the subject of intensive palaeontological research; volcanic ash buried the fossil flora there at the site of its original growth.
The Radnice Tourist Information Centre provides information and guided-tour services and has bicycle racks. The educational trail Za přírodou a historií Radnicka focuses on geological, palaeontological, dendrological, botanical and cultural features and comprises three accessible circular routes.
The Radnický okruh is 2.3 km long and leads to sights in Radnice and the surrounding area. The Hylákův okruh is 12.8 km long and starts in Radnice’s town square. The Šternberský okruh is suitable for cyclists, is 24 km long and starts at Kašpar-Šternberk Square in Radnice. The Rokycany District has marked tourist trails as well as well-maintained forest paths with rest areas.
