Skomelno: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

In Skomelno, the circular educational trail Putování s Dubíky begins and ends; it is approximately 5 km long. The trail covers Radeč, Mitterwald and the Radnická seam, leads to the Skomelský oak, is partially marked and is not maintained by the KČT.

Geographical location

Skomelno lies at the foot of the wooded Zbirožské Mountains, north of Mount Radeč. The Radeč Nature Park is located near the village; the Skomelák pond is also near Skomelno. At the edge of the forest near Skomelno stands the Skomelský oak, an oak tree more than 600 years old. It came second in the 2014 Tree of the Year competition.

Near Skomelno is Věž u Skomelna, an 8-metre-high rhyolite rock equipped with permanently installed protection devices. The approach begins at Skomelno football pitch and follows a forest track towards Lhota pod Radčem.

History and culture

Skomelno was first mentioned in written records in 1379. The historical records name Otík ze Skomelna as a resident of Skomelno from 1379 onwards. In 1631, Skomelno came into the possession of Petr Příchovský z Příchovic. In the centre of the village, a monument to the victims of the First World War stands on a bend. The northern arm of a water-filled moat survives from the former fortification in Skomelno.

On 17 July 2026, the Skomelno Volunteer Fire Brigade held a traditional dance event with music and dancing in Skomelno.
