Příkosice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At Homberk, the history of castles and the history of the Earth meet in Příkosice. The site is historically associated with Homberk Castle and is first mentioned indirectly in this context in 1368. The Homberk geological locality illustrates the cooling of lava during a submarine effusion and, in the broader context, volcanism associated with an underwater eruption and hydrothermal activity with concentric stromatolitic structures.

Culture and History

Homberk Castle was built on two nearby Buližník outcrops connected by a low saddle. The buildings were probably predominantly made of wood. In 1406, the castle was besieged and captured by royal troops.

Unusual historical events are also part of the local character: on 1 February 1825, a Fata Morgana occurred near Příkosice by Rokycany. Příkosice is also home to a statue of Saint Anthony of Padua.

Nature and Climbing

Příkosice lie on the edge of the Brdy forests. On the rocky Homberk ridge, Příkosická skála consists of several scattered Buližník rock formations up to 18 metres high. Fixed belay anchors are installed at the climbing crags of Příkosická skála; alternatively, belaying from trees is possible.

The Příkosická skála climbing area can be reached on foot from Příkosice railway station via the path by the former JZD, past the cemetery, over Kuželkovic vršek (556 m), and along forest paths to Homberk.

Location and Trails

Příkosice lie on the railway line from Rokycany to Nezvěstice. Thanks to the good road connections and, in particular, the railway connection, Příkosice are a destination for excursions and recreation for people from larger cities.

The regional cycle route CT 352 – Inner Circuit of the Region passes through Příkosice or includes Příkosice among the municipalities concerned.
