Local History and Historical Monuments

Horní Kozolupy was first mentioned in 1237 in connection with the local nobleman Šuchta of Kozolupy. Later, the villages came under the rule of the Lords of Gutštejn. In the 16th and 17th centuries, Horní Kozolupy was incorporated into nearby Cebiv and subsequently passed permanently to the Bezdružice estate.

A particularly significant chapter is connected with the former Gothic parish church of St Peter and Paul, which has been documented since the 14th century. In the 16th and 17th centuries, it was the only parish church of the Cebiv estate and served as the burial place of the estate’s noble owners. After two fires in 1947, the church was demolished in 1950. This sequence of events makes the local history tangible even if you do not focus your stay exclusively on a single sight.

The Church of St Lawrence has been documented since the second half of the 14th century; the present building dates from 1767. The Slavice chateau grounds include a chateau building, a granary, a garden, a gate with a wicket gate and a stone baptismal font. The remains of the Slavice fortress disappeared around 1820 during the remodelling of the chateau and the construction of a new farmyard.
