Horažďovice: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Horažďovice presents its historic core at Horažďovice Castle: it is the landmark of the historic town centre and serves as a venue for cultural activities. The Horažďovice Town Museum is located in the castle at Mírové náměstí 11.

Culture

The Church of St Peter and Paul in Horažďovice was built between 1260 and 1273 and remodelled in the Baroque style between 1700 and 1720. The church contains a Madonna dating from 1775 and a Gothic, chalice-shaped baptismal font.

Experiences

The “Gold Panning on the Otava” excursion takes place outdoors and includes an introduction to the history of gold panning on the Otava, a practical demonstration and instructions on how to pan for gold. Any gold flakes successfully panned may be taken home.

The “Šumava Foothills Crafts Workshop” programme demonstrates the processing of wool and flax, weaving on a loom and traditional woodworking. Horažďovice Aquapark offers a 62-metre water slide, a children’s pool with two slides, massage jets and a water play feature, a pearl bath, a lazy river and a sauna area.

Lesopark Ostrov has an approximately 4-kilometre circular walking route.

The “Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast” ruins are located in the wider surrounding region of Horažďovice. The wider surrounding region also includes Mount Sedlo [Sušice-Albrechtice], Mount Vysoký, Mount Svatobor and Mount Buzrakov (Plánický hřeben).
