Nezamyslice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary stands on a hill on the northwestern edge of Nezamyslice. It is part of a protected monument ensemble.
Culture and History
In the first half of the 14th century, a new church was built in Nezamyslice in the Klatovy District on the site of an older place of worship. Around 1515, the church’s nave was remodelled into a three-aisled hall with net-vaulting.
West of the church and outside the cemetery stands the Chapel of St Erasmus, which was founded in the first half of the 17th century. In 1860, it was repaired and converted into the family crypt of the Lamberg family. The chapel houses a unique collection of tomb slabs belonging to the Lamberg family, most of which date from the 16th century.
A visit to the church grounds also includes the small Museum of the Churches of Nezamyslice. It was established in the former mortuary on the grounds of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and the Chapel of St Erasmus. The small exhibition includes information panels and several exhibits from the churches’ storage facilities.
The former school building stands in the church cemetery; the writer Karel Klostermann attended it from 1854 to 1855. A statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands at an intersection in the eastern part of Nezamyslice. The war memorial in Nezamyslice bears the names of fallen soldiers. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary, built into a wall, is thought to date from the 19th century.
Things to Do
The Czech section of the Lamberská stezka is an almost 50-kilometre circular route that can be completed in stages. The Lamberská stezka can be explored on foot or by car and connects visits to museums, chateaux, viewpoints and pilgrimage churches.
In Nezamyslice, the Lamberská stezka leads to a stop where the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is the dominant attraction; the Chapel of St Erasmus is also one of the central sights.
Landscape and Views
An unmarked footpath around Panský nezamyslický rybník offers views of the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary and Rabí Castle, as well as opportunities to observe birds, plants and fish. The viewpoint by the Chapel of St Erasmus offers views to the west and south; Rabí Castle can be seen to the northwest, beyond Panský nezamyslický rybník.
A large car park is located below the Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary.
