Bolešiny: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

In Bolešiny, educational trails through the forest, views of the Šumava, chapels with their own history and local theatre traditions come together. Between experiencing nature and village culture, a multifaceted picture of the place emerges.

Nature and Trails

The “Toulky okolím Bolešin 2” educational trail is 3.5 km long and can be walked at a leisurely pace in about an hour. It leads through the forest and offers views of the highest peaks of the Šumava.

The “Okolím Bolešin” educational trail runs between Bolešiny and Ostřetice. Along the way, views open up over the Klatovská kotlina, the Šumava panorama and the Plánický hřeben. Six stations with information boards focus on the flora and fauna of the surrounding area, especially birds.

A cycling route runs from Klatovy via Ostřetice, Petrovičky, Němčice, Újezd u Plánice, Plánice and Bolešiny back to Klatovy.

Culture and History

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Na Stráni was built in 1897. It contains an over-life-size statue of the Virgin Mary, which previously stood in an original wooden chapel that burned down.

The local cultural centre in Bolešiny is the home venue of Ochotnické divadlo Bolešiny. Local event culture also includes the “Fourth Advent Candle”, which traditionally combines a programme by local amateur actors with a competition for the best Christmas pastries.

In Bolešiny stands a small octagonal village chapel dating from before 1775. Its octagonal tent roof is interrupted by a lantern and topped with an onion dome.
