Culture and history

Dražeň showcases remarkable traces of architecture, archaeology and craftsmanship within a small area. The Chapel of the Holy Family has a regular octagonal floor plan. Its entrance inscription bears a chronogram dating from 1720.

The archaeological sites include the Osojno hilltop settlement. It is classified as a Category UAN I find site and as an important archaeological locality in the cadastral area of Dražeň. The hilltop settlement lies on a rocky cliff west of the Osojno farmstead.

A stone cross from Dražeň stands about 1 kilometre from the village, on the left-hand side of the road to Pláň. A cast-iron cross was subsequently attached to its upper side. The Malenice area east of Dražeň also bears witness to the former use of the landscape: there was a 200–300-metre-long mine adit where iron sulphate was leached in the 19th century. The adit was used by the Stark-David company to produce sulphuric acid.

Nature and springs

Osojno near Dražeň is associated with a protected natural monument. The Osojno Natural Monument protects a remnant of natural thermophilous woodland with typical forest flora and a species-rich spring bloom.

Malenický pramen spring has been officially protected under Regulation 5/2010 of the Plzeň Region. The spring, located near Dražeň, emerges from shale bedrock in the valley of the Dražeňský potok stream; precipitated salts form interesting, separate terraced pools there.

Educational trail between Plasy and Dolní Bělá

The Ludvík Očenášek Educational Trail runs for 13 kilometres between Plasy and Dolní Bělá. It is marked in green and accessible year-round. The Malenický pramen spring near Dražeň can be reached via this green-marked Plasy–Dolní Bělá hiking trail.
