Čachrov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
The Tvrz Čachrov fortress was built between 1380 and 1390 by Vilém of Čachrov. A Baroque château was built in the vicinity of Tvrz Čachrov in the second half of the 18th century; it burned down in 1933. Tvrz Čachrov is now privately owned and is not open to visitors.
Churches and Places of Remembrance
The Church of St Wenceslas in Čachrov was originally a Gothic church dating from the first half of the 14th century and was remodelled in the Baroque style at the beginning of the 18th century. It features wall paintings from around 1360 and a vault fresco from 1759. Miloslav Vlk, who later became Archbishop of Prague and a cardinal, served at the parish house of the Church of St Wenceslas.
Art and Technology
The Domácí Galerie nad údolím was established at house number 4 in Čachrov and can be visited by prior arrangement. Exhibits include paintings, ceramic sculptures, jewellery, graphic art and drawings. The Čachrov Railway Handcar Museum's most valuable exhibit is a handcar from 1851 that was used by railway inspectors.
Nature and Trails
The Městišťské rokle nature reserve is located in the vicinity of Čachrov. It protects spring areas, wetlands and the floodplains of the Jelenka and its tributaries.
The Divoké rokle městišťské trail begins about 1 km beyond the settlement of Onen Svět in the municipality of Čachrov; parking is available at the starting point. A KČT hiking route reaches Čachrov via Chrepice and Bradné.
