Prasily: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
A 17.5 km-long hiking route classified as difficult leads from Prášily to Prášilské jezero. It has an elevation gain of 526 m and takes 5 hours and 30 minutes. Prášilské jezero was formed by a glacier around 10,000 years ago.
Nature
The route from Prášily leads to the summit of Poledník, with a 37 m-high observation tower offering panoramic views. The route between Poledník and Gsenget is open only from 15 July to 15 November. At Poledník, legal overnight accommodation for one night is possible at the so-called emergency overnight site. The educational trail “Polom v horské smrčině” illustrates the vitality of nature.
The Prášily Botanical Garden showcases native Šumava plants as well as examples of wetland, dry, bog and heath habitats. It houses a collection of 400 daffodils, considered one of the largest in the Czech Republic. Its plant collections are complemented by works of art made of wood and stone.
Trails and Season
Cycle Route 33 passes through Prášily and crosses Šumava National Park from Železná Ruda to Lipno. The Stodůlecký Bridge over the Křemelná is closed to cyclists and pedestrians because of its poor condition. The public campsite is open during the 2026 season from 10 April to 1 November 2026.
Culture
The settlement of Prášily was established in connection with the founding of a glassworks. Poledník was originally a military facility and offers views of the unique natural landscape of the Šumava.
