Břežany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Břežany was first mentioned in writing in 1319; at the same time, the medieval and early modern town centre is classified as an important archaeological site.

History and Culture

A stone column shrine stands on the southern side of the road from Břežany to Malý Bor, approximately 0.5 km southeast of the edge of Břežany. The shrine is approximately 3 m high, bears the indistinct year 1738, and is made of coarse-grained granite.

The Chapel of Saint Anne near Břežany was built in 1760 under the patronage of the Horažďovice estate. It stands in a small grove above Břežany at a spring whose water is considered to have healing properties. A remarkable small-leaved lime tree shades the chapel; its trunk has a circumference of 430 cm, and the tree is approximately 24 m high.

Nature and Landscape

The immediate surroundings of Břežany are defined by two prominent landscape features: Slavník Hill and a group of ponds. Slavník, a hill, is located in the vicinity of Břežany.

Buzrakov (Plánický hřeben), a mountain, lies in the wider surroundings of Břežany. In the wider regional area are the Radomysl Mediumwave Radio Mast ruins, Svatobor, a mountain, and Vysoký, a mountain.

Event

“Břežanská stopa” is a sled-dog race.
