Vlčkov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Vlčkov stretches along the northern bank of the Vlčkovský potok stream. The village is characterised by original folk architecture; preserved farmsteads and historic houses contribute to its landscape character.

Landscape and Village Character

Cycle route CT 4145 from Sloupnice to Kozlovský kopec passes through Vlčkov. This connects the village character with a marked cycle route that crosses the village along its course.

Culture and Tradition

The chapel in Vlčkov was fully completed on 21 June 1904 and consecrated on 15 August 1904. A statue of Mary, Help of Christians, with the infant Jesus was installed in the chapel.

The T. G. Masaryk monument stands in the village square. It was unveiled on 6 August 1922 and consists of a pedestal and a bust of Masaryk.

The traditional festival “Putování za studánkami” is associated with springs and music. Its tradition is based on the local custom of cleaning springs. At the same time, the festival is connected with the cantata “Otvíráni studánek”, composed in 1955 by Bohuslav Martinů to words by the poet Miloslav Bureš.

Events Throughout the Year

The traditional music festival “Putování za studánkami” has been held in Vlčkov every last Saturday in May since 1983.

Another regular event is “Putování za tradicemi první republiky”. Since 2009, the event has invited enthusiasts of two- and four-wheeled vehicles from before 1938 to Vlčkov every 28 October. The ceremonial drive leads from Litomyšl via Vlkov, Němčice, Člupek and Pudilka to Vlčkov. There, participants attend a commemorative ceremony and sing Masaryk’s favourite song, “Ach, synku, synku”.
