Veselí: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Veselí lies at the foot of the Železné hory Mountains. Its distinctive features can be seen in a landscape with protected stream floodplains, a multilayered local history, and practical connections for road, rail, and cycling traffic.

Nature

The Meandry Struhy natural monument covers the cadastral area of Veselí u Přelouče. Protected features include the naturally developing Struha stream, its riverside vegetation, the floodplain forest, and the adjacent meadows.

Another special feature is the Veselí biocorridor. It was created on the site of the former Kuchyňka pond and expands the local recreational area.

Geographical location

Road II/342 from Valy towards Choltice runs through Veselí. In addition, the Class III road Veselí–Klenovka leads towards Přelouč.

At the northeastern edge of Veselí, there is a railway station on the Přelouč–Prachovice line. Cycle Route No. 4127 from Třemošnice to Kokešov also runs through Veselí and past Veselí u Přelouče railway station; the designated route is 38.50 km long.

History and culture

The first written mention of Veselí dates from 23 July 1401. The origins of Veselské tvrz date back to the mid-16th century; the new Veselská tvrz was built in 1559 below the dam of Návesník pond.

At the beginning of the 20th century, the former Veselské tvrz complex was known as “Hrádeček”. The documented local details also include the masked procession held in Veselí u Přelouče on 24 February 2007, which featured a bear mask.
