Culture and History

In the centre of Slepotice, the Church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross stands on elevated ground. The present-day church was built in 1818 as a single-nave structure with a five-sided presbytery and a tower topped with an onion dome. The memorial to the fallen stands next to the church in Slepotice.

The Slepotice fortress was included in the documented division of the paternal estate on 15 April 1510. Faint remains of the large Slepotice castle complex have been preserved in an orchard behind house no. 1. The castle complex features an inner platform that is now only faintly recognisable and is surrounded by a ditch that has been partially filled in; the ditch is most clearly visible on the eastern side.

Slepotice is home to a large cross depicting the crucified Christ, the Virgin Mary and Saint John. It was acquired from the former Minorite monastery in Pardubice. Emil Morávek was born in 1914, served as a Czech fighter pilot in the French Air Force and died at Heuilley-le-Grand on 15 June 1940. The Church of Saint George is located in the wider regional area around Slepotice.

Nature and Water

Slepotice is located near the Loučná River. The recreational area at the Slepotice fire-water reservoir is open during the summer season; its operation depends on the weather conditions and the water and air temperatures.

The named hills Na Kopci [Dolní Roveň], Jandák [Moravany-Čeradice nad Loučnou], Na vrchách and Hlaváč [Dašice-Prachovice] are located in the vicinity of Slepotice.
