An irrigation canal dating from 1853 leads directly into the history of Plchovice: Prince Ferdinand Kinský had it built to irrigate the meadows of a manor farm near Plchovice called Růženin Dvůr or Růžovec. The canal runs through the western part of the village; it continued to be used to irrigate meadows until the first half of the 20th century. The irrigation canal “Vodní kanál zavodňovací” is located in the administrative area of Plchovice and is registered as a cultural monument under registration number ÚSKP 101535.
The first written mention of Plchovice dates back to 1342. Typical agricultural buildings have been preserved in the village. The administrative area of Plchovice also contains a brick chapel dating from 1890 and a stone cross dating from 1840; both are designated as architecturally valuable structures.
Nature
The Orlice Nature Park and the Orlice a Labe Site of Community Importance in the Natura 2000 network are located in the administrative area of Plchovice. The meandering riverbed of the Tichá Orlice is also designated as a significant landscape feature in the administrative area of Plchovice.
