Culture and History

A Roman Catholic chapel dedicated to the Visitation of the Virgin Mary (Navštívení Panny Marie) was built in Kostěnice. The Navštívení Panny Marie Chapel was consecrated on 3 October 1909; since its consecration, the local pilgrimage has been celebrated on the first Sunday in July.

The memory of the town’s wartime history is also present. A monument to the victims of the First World War commemorates 24 war dead from the years 1914 to 1918. A war grave in the form of a cenotaph commemorates Karel Valter, who fell on 28 May 1917 near Berje in the Littoral (Přímoří).

The Church of Svatý Jiří is also located in the wider regional surroundings of Kostěnice.

Nature and Leisure

Fishing is permitted at two local ponds in Kostěnice, the upper and lower ponds, with a municipal permit issued by the municipal administration. Fishing competitions for children and adults are held at the lower pond every year.

Getting There

Kostěnice railway station is located on line 010 between Kolín and Česká Třebová and is integrated into the integrated transport system. The Kostěnice station building is accessible to people with reduced mobility.
