Hroubovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Hroubovice can be explored through two specific aspects: Jewish sites of remembrance and the natural area of Anenské Valley.

Culture and Remembrance

The Jewish cemetery in Hroubovice was established around the middle of the 18th century and expanded in the middle of the 19th century. Around 250 tombstones dating from 1788 to 1966 have been preserved in the cemetery. It belongs to the group of East Bohemian Jewish cemeteries with distinctive tombstone symbolism on stelae from the late 18th century and the first half of the 19th century.

The Jewish cemetery in Hroubovice is locked; the key can be borrowed from the Hroubovice municipal office.

On 11 December 2017, a Holocaust memorial was unveiled and a memorial park opened at the site of the demolished synagogue in Hroubovice. The memorial lists the names of 39 Jewish residents who were deported to Theresienstadt and subsequently to Auschwitz in November 1942. It stands in a small park on the Anenský stream between house numbers 22 and 123.

Nature

Anenské Valley is a European protected site of Community importance with the Natura 2000 code CZ0534051. The Anenské Valley Nature Reserve extends through the valley of the Anenský stream between Štěpánov, Přibylov, Nová Ves and Hroubovice, north of Skuteč.

Protected habitats in Anenské Valley include ash- and alder-rich floodplain forests, dry calcareous grasslands, and extensively mown meadows ranging from the lowlands to the foothills. They also include habitats of the dusky large blue butterfly. Amphibians, reptiles and butterflies have been recorded in Anenské Valley, including fire salamanders, grass snakes and dusky large blue butterflies.
