Horní Jelení: Holiday Apartments and Houses

Horní Jelení is located in eastern Bohemia on the border between the foothills of the Orlické Mountains and the Elbe Lowland.

Culture and History

The Church of the Holy Trinity in Horní Jelení was built by Varlich von Bubna between 1600 and 1602. It features an unusually designed ceiling and richly decorated Baroque interiors; it also contains the tomb of Varlich von Bubna.

The Marian Column in Horní Jelení is a High Baroque monument dating from 1704. It is approximately 10 metres high and surrounded by a substantial sandstone balustrade on a square ground plan.

Nature

The woodland landscape around Horní Jelení invites visitors to take walks to the nearby Pětinoha pond. Pětinoha is a pond with plant communities in which rare plant species occur; in particular, it is home to the critically endangered water-starwort (Callitriche hermaphroditica L.).
