Horní Čermná: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes
Horní Čermná lies in the foothills of the Eagle Mountains, in a valley formed by the Čermná stream. The cadastral area also includes the Moravská Sázava Natura 2000 site, covering an area of 290.8 hectares. It protects, among other things, ash floodplain forests, alder floodplain forests, and beech forests of the Luzulo-Fagetum and Asperulo-Fagetum associations.
Nature
A prominent viewpoint is the Mariánka observation tower. The wooden tower, open all year round, is 23 m high, dates from 2014, and has a steel spiral staircase. Its observation platform is located at a height of 18.8 m. From there, views extend over the Eagle Mountains, Suchý vrch, Lanškroun, and the surrounding area; in good visibility, the peaks of the Giant Mountains can also be seen.
Trails
Cycle route 4072 runs through Horní Čermná. It connects Horní Čermná, Dolní Čermná, Petrovice, Bystřec, and Čenkovice. Several marked hiking trails also pass through the village or its cadastral area.
The red-marked long-distance Jiráskova cesta trail runs through the cadastral area of Horní Čermná. In summer, it is used by hikers and in winter by cross-country skiers. From Horní Čermná, a yellow-marked hiking trail leads west to the pilgrimage site of Mariánská Hora. Another yellow-marked hiking trail leads from Horní Čermná through the Sázavské valley to the summit of Lázek at an altitude of 714 m.
Culture
The Church of the Nativity of the Virgin Mary is located at Mariánská Hora in the cadastral area of Horní Čermná. The present church building was constructed in 1875. In front of the pilgrimage church, a Way of the Cross with fourteen chapels was built in 1886. Pilgrimages have been held at Mariánská Hora since 1885. They were banned during the German occupation, but resumed after liberation and continue to take place to this day.
The Protestant church in Horní Čermná was built between 1836 and 1839. Its tower was added between 1884 and 1885. The interior furnishings include an organ made during the First World War with an older, decorated organ case. The war memorial in Horní Čermná has had its present design since 2018.
Local Life and Getting There
Koupaliště Horní Čermná is a former fire-water reservoir that is used as a local outdoor swimming pool. Horní Čermná is easily accessible by bus.
