Hlavečník: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The history of Hlavečník dates back to 1228, when the village was donated to Opatovice Monastery. Its former name, Hlávecko, changed to Hlavečník in the 13th century.

History and Cultural Heritage

The cultural heritage of the area includes the grounds of the Kladruby nad Labem Stud Farm, a National Cultural Monument, which also encompass the cadastral area of Hlavečník. The Kladrubské Polabí Landscape Protection Area also includes Hlavečník. Another historical connection is provided by a coin hoard discovered in Hlavečník: it was handed over to the National Museum in Prague and exhibited there under the name of its finder. The protected Opatovický Canal also has a section in the cadastral area of Hlavečník.

Landscape

The fields around Hlavečník are predominantly sandy. The forests surrounding the village have various names: Sokolí lies north of Hlavečník, Splávy to the south, and Skřípěř to the east.

In the wider regional surroundings of Hlavečník lies the UNESCO World Heritage Site “Landscape for Breeding and Training of Ceremonial Carriage Horses at Kladruby nad Labem”. This landscape includes a sandy floodplain, pastures, meadows, forests and fields, as well as parks, paths, avenues, groups of trees, individual trees and waterways. It serves for the breeding and training of Kladruber horses.

Routes and Excursions

A road to Rasoch crosses Písník Hill. For hiking, a blue-marked trail leads from Hlavečník along the Černá strouha to Labské Chrčice. The “Po práci legrani – Hlavečník” excursion route also passes through Hlavečník.
