Ruda Nad Moravou: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Ruda nad Moravou combines a village church with signposted hiking and cycling trails in the surroundings of the Hanušovická Upland. The parish church of St. Lawrence, with a covered staircase, is considered a prominent landmark of Ruda nad Moravou.

Culture and History

The town's historic character also includes a Baroque statue of the Virgin Mary dating from 1715. The former distillation complex in the Empire style has been preserved in its original layout from the first half of the 19th century. The present-day church dates from 1784 and has foundations dating from the late Renaissance.

Hiking and Cycling

A green-marked hiking trail leads from Šumperk via Radomilov and Ruda nad Moravou to Janoušov and continues to Mlýnický dvůr. A yellow-marked local hiking trail begins at Ruda nad Moravou railway station, leads through the town and ends at the trail junction on the summit of Šošola.

Several cycling routes also pass through the town. The long-distance Moravská stezka cycling route passes through Ruda nad Moravou and extends for 310 kilometres from Mikulovice via Jeseník, Hanušovice, Bludov, Mohelnice, Litovel, Olomouc, Kroměříž, Hodonín, Mikulčice and Lanžhot to Břeclav. Local cycling route 6223 connects Ruda nad Moravou with Janoušov and U Tří Tabulí háj.

Ruda nad Moravou railway station was extensively renovated as part of the revitalisation of the Bludov–Jeseník railway line.

Landscape and Nature

The surroundings of Ruda nad Moravou include Hrad Brníčko, a castle, the Nový Hrad ruins, and the mountains of Bouda, Obora and Buková hora. The mountain of Lazek lies in the wider regional surroundings.

The Ruda valley crosses the southern part of the Hanušovická Upland. To the west, at an elevation of 500 to 600 metres, lies the forested Žďár mountain massif, with low serpentine rocks and stands of Jeseníky larch.
