Olšany: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Dvůr Doubravice in Olšany comprises a manor house or small château, as well as agricultural buildings. It illustrates aristocratic administration and the rural economy during the Renaissance and Baroque periods. The eastern part of Dvůr Doubravice in Olšany is listed among the cultural monuments of the Czech Republic. In 2024, the southeast wing of Dvůr Doubravice, consisting of the former manor house, stables and coach house, was also declared a cultural monument of the Czech Republic.

Culture and History

Olšany’s industrial history includes a factory producing cigarette paper, founded in 1862 on the site of a former mill. A document from the National Heritage Institute mentions the Doubravice farm estate in Olšany, as well as houses No. 174 and No. 46, in connection with an immovable cultural monument.

Chapels and Heights

A hiking trail from Olšany leads to a chapel on the Olšanské hory hills. The Chapel of St Martin on the Olšanské hory hills was built in the 1930s and consecrated in 1936.

The Chapel of Saints Cyril and Methodius is recorded in Olšany near the youth hostel. It stands above a water spring; access to the spring is via a descending stone staircase with a stone surround. An inscription on the chapel records an orally transmitted belief that Cyril and Methodius preached and baptised at this site around the year 865.

Nature and Trails

The Moravská stezka cycle route passes through Olšany. The Březná Nature Park extends partly across the cadastral area of Olšany nad Moravou.
