Ohrozim: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the Horka burial mound field, the finds date back to the Funnel Beaker culture, more precisely to the so-called Ohrozim type. The burial mound field comprised around 27 burial mounds in total; excavations uncovered 57 graves.

Culture and History

The townscape is dominated by the neo-Romanesque Church of St. Wenceslas, which is considered a landmark of Ohrozim and was built between 1853 and 1855. Ohrozim's parish church was first mentioned shortly after the middle of the 14th century. A medieval settlement called Lhotka was also located within the cadastral area of the municipality.

Nature

Čubernice is a 2.3041-hectare nature monument that was first designated on 22 August 1952. It protects populations of warmth-loving plants, their plant communities, the associated animal life, and open grassland and herb-rich areas.

The Ohrozim-Horka nature monument lies about 1 km northwest of Ohrozim and protects the habitat of the great crested newt (Triturus cristatus).

Landscape and Orientation

There used to be a windmill on Horka above Ohrozim; traces of burial mounds have been preserved there. Horka offers views across the Prostějovsko region.

Near Ohrozim, a section of concrete is one of the few surviving remnants of the trunk road from Plzeň to Ostrava, built in the 1930s. Class II road No. 150 leads from Prostějov to Ohrozim.
