In Měrotín, historic architectural monuments, geological features and the views from Parduska come together. Between the village square, Parduska and the former Brodka limestone quarry, the village reveals its various facets.

Culture and History

The Parish Church of St Martin in Měrotín was rebuilt in 1619 by the landowner of the time; it is first mentioned as early as 1481 in the Land Tables. Its tower dates from the first half of the 16th century, while the nave features Renaissance decorations and portals. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary, built in 1843, stands on the village square. Other architectural monuments in Měrotín include the Baroque rectory from 1772.

Nature and Geology

The cadastral territory of Měrotín belongs to the Litovelské Pomoraví Protected Landscape Area. The Geologické varhany near Měrotín are a special geological attraction and are considered both a geotourism site and a geotope. They lie within the cadastral territory of Měrotín; the geological formations are located in the former Brodka limestone quarry between Mladeč and Měrotín.

The Geologické varhany site can be reached by car without access restrictions; the access road comes within 250 metres. The former quarry itself is considered closed.

Parduska and Views

The Parduska mountain lies southeast of Měrotín. From there, views extend across the Haná region towards the Jeseníky Mountains and over the Bouzovská vrchovina. The statue beside the path on Parduska is considered Měrotín’s oldest monument; a local trail marking leads from the bench and the statue beside the path above Měrotín to the summit of Parduska.

Local Tradition

The SDH Měrotín volunteer fire brigade traditionally organises the Memoriál Josefa Vitoula.
