Zlatníky: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Zlatníky combines a long, clearly documented history with a chapel in the centre of the village and several named landscape features in the nearby and wider surroundings.

History and Village Centre

The first written mention of Zlatníky dates from 1256. At that time, Velehrad Monastery purchased Zlatníky from Smil z Bílkova. From the end of the 16th century until 1718, Zlatníky was an independent estate owned by the Mošů z Bittendorfu family. This period also saw the construction of a brewery: Jan Leopold Moš had it built in Zlatníky in 1717.

The Chapel of St John the Baptist still stands in the middle of Zlatníky’s village square today. It was built and consecrated in 1877. Following its reconstruction, the Chapel of Saint John the Baptist in Zlatníky was blessed.

Cycling Along the Cycle Path

Cycle path No. 6167 leads from the Městské sady bus stop in Opava via Zlatníky, Stěbořice and Nový Dvůr to Hlavnice.

Festivals and Local Traditions

In August 2025, Zlatníky hosted the seventh edition of the Guláš Fest. Another event took place on 26 September 2015: fish festivals were held at the TJ–Sokol Zlatníky sports complex and proved very popular with locals and visitors.
