A remarkable natural feature in Mladecko is the Jakartovice Nature Monument. It protects the dusky large blue (Maculinea nausithous), a Natura 2000 species, and also includes the cadastral area of Mladecko. The landscape features of the nature monument include alluvial, species-poor wet meadows, a meandering watercourse, and an alluvial forest lined with ash and alder trees. Thus, in Mladecko, natural attractions stand alongside evidence of the history of the village and its buildings.

Nature and Landscape

The connection between habitats and nature conservation can be explored in greater depth on the nature trail Přírodovědná naučná stezka Mladeckem. The trail has ten stations covering the history of the school and the village, as well as the region’s fundamental ecosystems. It also provides information about nature conservation. The general public can use the trail to learn about Mladecko’s geological past and natural environment. In this way, the route combines local history, natural history, and geological topics within a single described trail.

Culture and History

The history of Mladecko includes the Chapel of St. Joseph, built in 1882. Inside are a Neo-Gothic altar and a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk from the early 19th century. There is also a cross from 1904 in front of the chapel.

Another historical monument is the log house No. 44. It is an immovable cultural monument and a vernacular wooden house in the East Sudeten style dating from 1830. The history of Mladecký Dvůr also spans several construction phases: at the end of the 17th century, an earlier chateau was built in Mladecko and demolished in 1772. At the beginning of the 19th century, a new Empire-style chateau was subsequently built in Mladecký Dvůr. Mladecký Dvůr is an Empire-style chateau from the early 19th century; later, an extensive landscaped park was created around the chateau.

Routes and Excursion Destinations

In addition to the nature trail, there are other described ways to explore Mladecko and its surroundings along designated routes. A green-marked hiking trail leads from Mladecko railway station to the Kružberk Reservoir after approximately 9 kilometres. This approximate figure remains part of the route description. In addition, Excursion No. 4 of the Municipality of Mladecko is a 52-kilometre visitor route starting in Mladecko. Thus, a shorter described route to a reservoir stands alongside a considerably longer visitor route starting in the village.

Railway Connection and Military History Exhibition

The Opava východ–Svobodné Heřmanice railway line runs through the northern part of Mladecko. Near the railway station is the grounds of the Military History Club: it is located 600 metres from Mladecko railway station and displays historic military and civilian vehicles as well as aviation technology. The Military History Club also organizes the annual exhibition of military technology Výstava vojenské techniky in Mladecko.
