Pustá Polom: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Pustá Polom lies almost at the highest elevations of the Polomská plošina in the Nízký Jeseník, about 15 km southeast of Opava. The town is surrounded by extensive forests.

Location and Landscape

The hills of Hůrka [Opava - Podvihov] and Mečník [Těškovice] are located in the immediate vicinity of Pustá Polom. Přílet and Vinná hora are mountains in the surrounding area. Vildštejn, a ruin, is located in the wider regional area.

Culture

The fragment of the 18th meridian runs directly through the centre of Pustá Polom beneath the primary school building. It is publicly accessible and is also located along a blue-marked hiking trail. The fragment consists of a horizontal Corten steel line on a base made of grey reinforced-concrete slabs.

History

The existence of the Church of Saint Martin in Pustá Polom has been documented since 1276. The present parish Church of Saint Martin was built in 1803 in the Classicist style. The Chapel of Saint Anthony in Pustá Polom is an immovable cultural monument.

Getting Around

Cycle Route No. 6140 runs from Ostrava via Kyjovice and Pustá Polom, as well as Raduň, to Opava.
