Otice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Otice Volcano is a protected natural monument in the cadastral areas of Otice and Slavkov u Opavy and covers 10.44 hectares. Tertiary basalt outcrops and glacial deposits are protected here. At the same time, it is the remnant of a volcano from the Lower Miocene; basalt is exposed in a quarry below the summit.

Nature

In the wider surroundings of Otice, the Hvozdnice protected area includes three ponds, a wetland and pools inhabited by amphibians and birds. The Hvozdnice educational trail is accessible from Otice and has 15 information boards, each accompanied by a map of the route.

Culture

In the centre of Otice stands the Chapel of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary, which is a cultural monument. Another chapel, the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, stands in the Rybníčky district of Otice and is also a cultural monument.

Local Traditions

Otice has had a tradition of sauerkraut cultivation since 1886; ZP Otice continues this tradition.

The Otice Cabbage Festival has been held since 2011 and regularly takes place on the second Saturday in September. The festivities include a market offering regional products. Visitors can sample traditional local dishes there, such as cabbage soup, duck with dumplings and cabbage, homemade cakes, and regional beers.
