Staré Těchanovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

At the western edge of Staré Těchanovice lies the Těchanovická vyhlídka viewpoint, just 1 km from the Kružberk Dam. In good visibility, the view stretches across the dam and the former volcano Velký Roudný to the Hrubý Jeseník mountain range; at the same time, it offers a bird’s-eye view of the Staré Těchanovice valley.

Nature and Views

The Těchanovická vyhlídka viewpoint is free for tourists and the public to use. It is generally open year-round, but may be temporarily closed for safety or technical reasons. The cadastral territory of Staré Těchanovice also lies within the protected zone of the Moravice Nature Park.

Culture and History

The former Jánské Koupele spa complex is part of the historical character of the village. Since 2005, it has been listed in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments of the Czech Republic and comprises eleven structures with plots in the valley on both banks of the Moravice near Staré Těchanovice in the Opava District.

The history of Jánské Koupele goes back further: mineral springs have been documented there since 1640. The spa was founded in 1811 with the construction of its first spa house.

Staré Těchanovice is also home to the Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers, dating from 1928, and the Church of Saints Peter and Paul, dating from 1838. Lesy České republiky restored the chapel to its original condition in 2008 and 2009.

Paths and Sacred Sites

From Staré Těchanovice, the Chapel of the Fourteen Holy Helpers can be reached via field and forest paths. Before 1940, it was a pilgrimage site regularly visited by pilgrims on 26 June. The Slate Trail leads via a viewpoint to the restored chapel in the direction of Staré Těchanovice.
