Děhylov: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Děhylov lies on the northern slopes of one of the easternmost foothills of the Nízký Jeseník.

Landscape and Water

One of the locality’s major bodies of water is Žabinec, one of the two large ponds in Děhylov. The pond has been mentioned since the 17th century and is therefore also part of the locality’s documented landscape history. Another characteristic landscape is formed by the Děhylovský potok–Štěpán locality. It lies on the border between the municipality of Děhylov and the city of Ostrava, on the right bank of the Opava.

Děhylovský potok–Štěpán consists of a pond basin in the broad, flat floodplain of the Opava, the Děhylovský potok stream and adjacent wetlands. Together, these individual components form a clearly structured floodplain area. Fire-bellied toads, weather loaches and green snaketails occur in this locality. The Jilešovice-Děhylov area also includes Poštovní rybník. Several named bodies of water and wetlands therefore lie side by side in the immediate surroundings, shaping the landscape character of Děhylov.

Culture

Two sacred landmarks with different historical backgrounds stand at the heart of the locality. The Chapel of the Virgin Mary in Děhylov is a protected cultural monument, and services are still held there today. The Chapel of the Visitation of the Virgin Mary in Děhylov was built in 1726. Both buildings are explicitly named features of the locality, connecting the present-day community life with historic architectural heritage.

Paths and Excursions

The paths around Děhylov provide different ways to explore the forest, fields and riverbank. A 2.5 km-long educational trail leads through the forest and back to Děhylov between the fields. It has nine stops. They provide information about Dobroslavice and Děhylov, the history of the park, as well as fauna, flora and rocks. The trail thus connects different landscape areas with information about the two localities and the area’s natural and geological features.

A longer connection is provided by the Háj–Děhylov hiking route. It follows green-marked paths through Dobroslavice to Děhylov railway station. Děhylov railway station is located on the Opava–Ostrava railway line. On an excursion to Děhylov, bus route 75 from Ostrava, Poruba, VŠB-TUO to the Děhylov, železniční stanice stop was used.

On the Opava

A cycle path runs along the Loděnice, following the right bank of the Opava. The Loděnice in Děhylov is an outdoor excursion restaurant in a picturesque location on the Opava. At the Loděnice, free music of various styles has been played every Sunday for more than 30 years for all visitors. The site thus combines a stretch of riverbank, a dining destination and a regular musical offering.

The locality is also connected to the water: paddlers land at the natural harbour near the Loděnice on the Opava. At the same spot, the riverside path, excursion restaurant, Sunday music and a landing point on the river come together. The facilities and paths mentioned remain closely linked to the Opava and the Loděnice.
