Stěbořice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Stěbořice takes you from sacred architectural history and archaeological traces to themed natural areas and distinctive local experiences. Well-preserved remains of a Romanesque presbytery dating from the first half of the 13th century were uncovered beneath the floor of Kostel Narození Panny Marie Church.

Culture and history

“Kostel Narození P. Marie” is a single-nave sacred complex with a two-storey Baroque rectory in the centre of Stěbořice. Kostel Narození Panny Marie Church is one of the few surviving Romanesque monuments in the Moravskoslezský kraj region.

Háj, slovanský mohylník is also designated as an important archaeological site in Stěbořice. Forty-three burial mounds were investigated at the Slavic burial mound site of Háj; the burial mounds are still visible in the landscape today.

The exhibition “Quido. Příběh arboreta v Novém Dvoře” presents Quido Riedel, the development of the arboretum and the history of the chateau. An exhibition on the grounds of Zámek Stěbořice could be visited year-round by prior arrangement.

Nature

Arboretum Nový Dvůr features themed plant areas with North American forests and prairies, Siberia, a Japanese garden and plants from the Himalayas. Exhibitions are regularly held at Arboretum Nový Dvůr.

Beránkova stezka is approximately 2 km long and uses interactive information boards to provide entertaining information about the local flora and fauna, waste decomposition and how an anthill works. It is accessible with a pushchair, preferably a model suitable for rough terrain; depending on the weather, however, some sections may be more difficult to walk or ride along.

Further experiences

Rozhledna Šibenice offers views of the surrounding area as well as information about the construction of the Šibenice fortress and the local fortifications. At Rozhledna Šibenice, visitors can also see a pioneer shelter dating from the 1970s. By car, you can get to within approximately 150 m of Rozhledna Šibenice and park on a paved area.

On the Planetární cesta, there is a station featuring the planet Neptune in front of the cultural centre in Stěbořice.
