Stará Rudná: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

The founding of the village of Stará Rudná was preceded by the discovery of gold in the Černý potok stream and the establishment of gold-washing works.

Nature

The cadastral area of Stará Rudná is included in the Jeseníky Bird Protection Area. The Jeseníky Bird Protection Area protects ecosystems that are important for the hazel grouse (Bonasa bonasia) and the corn crake (Crex crex).

Geographical Location

Rudná pod Pradědem lies in the foothills of the Jeseníky Mountains and borders the main tourism, recreational and ski centres in the vicinity of Praděd.

Architectural Heritage

The oldest part of Stará Rudná on the Černý potok preserves the traditional mining term “hornický výval”.

The church dedicated to Saint John the Baptist stands in Stará Rudná and is the dominant building of the municipality of Rudná pod Pradědem. Its present form dates from 1812. Most of the original frescoes and a unique slate floor have been preserved inside.

Among the significant monuments is a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which formerly stood in the middle of the village pond, reached by a wooden bridge. A separate statue of Saint John of Nepomuk dating from 1744 stands in the centre of the village.

Cycle route 6029 connects Suchá Rudná, Stará Voda and Stará Rudná. Cycle route 6073 leads from Stará Rudná via Rudná pod Pradědem to Malá Morávka.
