Janov U Krnova: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Janov is a medieval mining town and, at the same time, a typical agricultural forest-strip village. The village lies in the western part of the Osoblažsko microregion in the valley of the Petrovický potok, where the landscape rises steeply towards the ridges of the Hrubý Jeseník.

The rural landscape around Janov is suitable for walks in every season. It encompasses mountain ridges, forests and meadows, densely criss-crossed by strips of field margins.

Culture

A Baroque statue of the Virgin Mary dating from 1739 stands in Janov’s square. Janov is also home to the late Baroque Church of the Holy Trinity, which was built between 1780 and 1783.

Janov Cemetery contains a pseudo-Renaissance and a pseudo-Gothic funerary chapel, both dating from the 19th century. Houses numbered 21 and 49 are examples of vernacular architecture.

The Janov Museum was established in the 1990s, when the building of the former school was reconstructed for the first time.

Landscape

Eight hundred metres southwest of Janov’s square, in the direction of Zlaté Hory, stands a centuries-old linden tree. In the southern part of Janov, visitors can still see structures built from flat stones, whose enclosing walls are up to 2 metres high.

The mountains Ďablův Kopec, Srebrna Kopa, Zamkowa Góra and Solná hora lie in the immediate vicinity of Janov. The ruins of Edelštejn and Koberštejn are also located around Janov.

In the wider regional surroundings of Janov lie Moszna Castle - Zamek and the ruins of Cvilin.

Getting Around

The St. Roch No. 6 educational trail runs through the Janov district along the border area with Poland and entirely on marked hiking trails. There is a small forest playground along the educational trail.

6 runs mostly along forest paths through rough terrain dominated by coniferous forests.
