Holčovice: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Holčovice combines a well-established cultural landscape with the Rozhledna Na Skalce lookout tower. Since 2013, the wooden Rozhledna Na Skalce lookout tower has stood on the slope of Moravský kopec above the village. From there, you can see the peaks of the Jeseníky Mountains and the Beskids, the Low Tatras, and Poland.

Landscape

The very well-preserved strip fields in Holčovice document the centuries-long cultivation of the landscape in the foothills of the Jeseníky Mountains. At the same time, Holčovice is situated on the Zlatá Opavice – another defining feature of the local landscape.

Culture and history

One of the village’s notable buildings is the Church of the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary. It has been one of the state-protected cultural monuments since 1988 and is a single-nave masonry building with a 30-metre-high tower. The church was built in 1770–1774 on the site of an Evangelical church dating from the early 17th century.

Animals and special exhibitions

The Africké muzeum in Holčovice displays various taxidermied animals at their natural size. Africké muzeum Safari also includes a zoo park with live animals, including European bison and buffalo. The Africké muzeum is located in Holčovice near the Rozhledna Na Skalce lookout tower.

Hiking and cycling trails

A yellow-marked hiking trail as well as a cycle path pass through Holčovice. A 3.5 km-long blue-marked hiking trail leads via the Horní Holčovice settlement to Rozhledna Na Skalce.
