Culture
The local and nearby cultural history includes several sacred buildings. The Parish Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in Jelení was built in 1675–1676. In the Czech Republic, the church has been protected as a cultural monument since 1963; Orthodox services are also held there. The Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary in the cemetery in Milotice nad Opavou dates from 1888.
Milotice nad Opavou’s annual cultural programme includes the food competition “Soutěž pirohy a buchty” and the Easter workshop “Velikonoční dílna”.
History
The Vojenské pevnosti u Milotic technical memorial site is located in the vicinity of Milotice nad Opavou, northeast of the village near the local railway station. The memorial complex comprises three Type 37 light fortification structures. The fortification memorial site is closed; the military structures are not accessible to the public. From Milotice nad Opavou railway station, an educational trail with information panels runs along the fortification memorial site and presents the history of the local fortifications.
Trails
A marked cycle route runs through Milotice nad Opavou. It leads from Milotice nad Opavou in a southwesterly direction via Dlouhá Stráň to the Slezská Harta reservoir. A green-marked hiking trail also runs through the village; its signpost is located in the village centre. The easy Milotice–Zátor hiking route also begins in the centre of Milotice nad Opavou and ends at Zátor railway station.
