Moravskoslezský Kočov: Vacation Apartments and Houses

Moravskoslezský Kočov was founded around 1300. Bus route 910 operates on the Bruntál–Roudno–Dvorce–Moravský Beroun route and serves several stops in Moravskoslezský Kočov.

History and Culture

A document from 1377 mentions Moravskoslezský Kočov as a large village with an hereditary judge's office. Around 1380, a fortified settlement was built in Moravskoslezský Kočov. Slezský Kočov was probably established in 1544 north of the existing village.

The parish Church of St. Michael has been preserved with an older core and a late Renaissance tower. The Church of St. Michael was restored in 1658 and from 1793 to 1795, and was remodelled in the Empire style in 1823. The local sacred landscape is complemented by the Chapel of St. Elizabeth, which was renovated and consecrated in 2008, as well as by the Chapel of the Virgin Mary. It was one of the four local chapels consecrated on September 21, 2002.

Nature

In the vicinity of Moravskoslezský Kočov lies Uhlířský vrch, a protected natural monument and the remnant of a stratovolcano that has been heavily smoothed by denudation processes. The approximately 30-metre-high quarry walls of Uhlířský vrch expose volcanic tuffs through nearly their entire preserved thickness.

Events

The New Year's ascent of Uhlířský vrch is one of the regular events associated with Moravskoslezský Kočov. The Kočovský kotlík competition is documented in Moravskoslezský Kočov for the years 2015 to 2021; official rules were published for 2026.
