Mikolajice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Mikolajice combines historical references with chapels, crosses, local event traditions, and a cycling tour through several villages.

Culture and History

Mikolajice is first mentioned in a fief register of the Bishop of Olomouc under the Latin form “Niclouicz”. In 1389, Ota Stoš of Bránice is named in it as the owner of two parts of Mikolajice. At that time, these parts were a fief of the Bishop of Olomouc in the Osoblaha district. From 1408, Mikolajice belonged to the Štáblovice fief estate, which was then administered by Jan z Liptáně.

Several sacred structures and small monuments have a direct connection to the village. The Chapel of Saint Florian is an architectural landmark of Mikolajice; it is associated with a cross dating from 1892. The Chapel of Saint Anne stands in Mikolajice on road III/44339. Also on road III/44339, at the northern edge of the built-up area, there is a chapel for fallen soldiers, listed as a monument of local significance.

At the eastern boundary of Mikolajice, a cross dating from 1886 stands on road II/443. A wayside shrine is also located on road II/443, at the eastern edge of Mikolajice’s built-up area. Thus, the memorial features mentioned are distributed along various roads and peripheral areas of the village, while the Chapels of Saint Florian and Saint Anne form distinct architectural points of reference.

Landscape and Historical Traces

An inventory of the fief estate from the 1660s records a total of 10 ponds, a developed stone sheep pen, and a hop garden for Štáblovice and Mikolajice. The entry therefore names not only the two villages together, but also specific components of the fief estate at that time: bodies of water, a stone facility for keeping sheep, and hop cultivation.

Events and Cycling Tour

The surviving event information also leads directly to Mikolajice. The Vodění medvěda procession passed through Mikolajice in both 2022 and 2026; for 2026, 14 February is given as the event date.

Mikolajice also invited visitors to the traditional 27th Selská Hubertova jízda. Both riders with horses and participants with horse-drawn carriages are welcome at this event. Spectators can be taken for rides on horseback.

The “Zabytki techniki” cycling tour runs through Dolní Životice, Mikolajice, and Štáblovice. It is 55 km long and described as an easy route.
