Jezdkovice: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jezdkovice brings together several clearly identifiable layers of architectural history, remembrance, and landscaped green spaces. At its heart is Jezdkovice Chateau, built in the Late Renaissance style between 1618 and 1619. After the death of its first builder, it was remodelled in the Baroque style. As a cultural monument, the chateau is protected under the Czech registration number 25000/8-1395. This means that the building documents both its original period of construction and a later alteration, as well as its protected status.

History and Buildings

The written history of Jezdkovice dates back to 1250. At that time, the village was first mentioned in a document under the name Jeskendorf. In addition to the chateau, more recent buildings are also part of the village’s history. The Chapel of Christ the King in Jezdkovice was built in 1927. The public square in front of the chapel was also the subject of a redesign project. Thus, the village landscape brings together a historic chateau, a 20th-century religious building, and a public square with its own history of development.

Places of Remembrance

Several monuments highlight different forms of remembrance. In Jezdkovice, there is a monument commemorating those who fell in the First and Second World Wars. Separate from this is the monument to those who fell in the First World War. It was ceremonially unveiled and consecrated on 11 June 1921 in front of the municipal building. Another religious monument is Boží muka, a small monument dating from 1853. Boží muka stands on a hill above Jezdkovice, beside a field path leading towards Nový Dvůr. These places therefore differ in terms of their period of origin, their religious or public classification, and their specific position within the village landscape.

Chateau Park

The grounds surrounding the chateau include Jezdkovice Chateau Park. Its restoration included renewed paths and stone walls with terraces. The design therefore refers both to the layout of the paths and to the structural elements that shape the park. In addition, the chateau park is used for cultural events and for leisure activities for children and young people. Historic park elements, restored areas, and these uses coexist here alongside the chateau.

Nový Dvůr Arboretum

The Nový Dvůr Arboretum is located nearby. It is a dendrological garden in Nový Dvůr, a district of the municipality of Stěbořice. Its themed plantings include North American forests and prairies, Siberia, a Japanese garden, and plants from the Himalayas. This arrangement is complemented by regular exhibitions. The arboretum thus combines its classification as a dendrological garden with several geographically defined planting themes and a recurring exhibition programme.
