Chvalíkovice lies at the transition between the foothills of the Nízký Jeseník mountain range and the lowlands of the Moravice River valley. The landscape is therefore shaped by the contrast between higher terrain and the river valley. At the same time, several routes and reminders of the area's history converge here. Visitors to Chvalíkovice will therefore find a range of points of interest: a clearly described location within the landscape, marked cycling and hiking trails, and several specifically named places and monuments.

Landscape

The geographical setting of Chvalíkovice refers to two directly connected landscape areas. On one side are the foothills of the Nízký Jeseník mountain range, and on the other the lowlands of the Moravice River valley. The village lies at the transition between these areas. The named routes also include Chvalíkovice in specific itineraries. The Moravice river area and the wider terrain of the Nízký Jeseník form the factual framework for the village's location.

Cycling and Hiking Trails

For cyclists, the marked cycle route 6055 is an important named feature. It connects Branka u Opavy, Chvalíkovice, Vršovice and Raduň. The route runs along Class III roads. In addition, a cycle path from Raduň to Branka passes through Chvalíkovice. The two descriptions refer to different connections in which the village is named as a stopping point.

Cycling sport is also associated with Chvalíkovice. Since 2001, the route of the challenging Silesia Bike Marathon mountain bike race has passed through the village. Thus, in addition to marked cycle route 6055 and the cycle path from Raduň to Branka, a race route is also explicitly linked to the village.

On the hiking trail network, Chvalíkovice is crossed by the Bezručova stezka. The Bezručova stezka is a hiking trail approximately 18 kilometres long around Hradec nad Moravicí. The yellow-marked Bezručova stezka passes through Chvalíkovice via the “Vršák” trail junction. In addition, a yellow-marked hiking trail around Hradec nad Moravicí passes through Chvalíkovice. This records the trail's name, approximate length and geographical course, as well as its marking and the Vršák trail junction.

History and Culture

The first written mention of Chvalíkovice dates from 1445. At that time, the village belonged to the Hradec estate. This early written reference stands alongside the visible or named memorial sites in the village today.

The Chapel of Saint Michael the Archangel was built in 1865. It is the only cultural monument in Chvalíkovice and commemorates the victims of the First and Second World Wars. The local monuments also include a memorial to the citizens of the village who fell in the First and Second World Wars. The chapel and the memorial therefore each preserve a distinct connection to the history of the village and the wars: the chapel is designated as the only cultural monument, while the memorial is explicitly dedicated to the fallen citizens of Chvalíkovice.

In the Village

In addition to its landscape, trails and monuments, Chvalíkovice also has named facilities that are part of local life. The Sokol gymnasium in Chvalíkovice has a bowling alley. U Golema is a restaurant and café in Chvalíkovice. Both descriptions refer to specific places within the municipality and add sporting and social, as well as gastronomic, points of interest.
