Frýdlant Nad Ostravicí: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Frýdlant nad Ostravicí lies in the Ostravice Valley below Lysá hora and forms a gateway to this mountain range at the foot of the Moravian-Silesian Beskids.

Culture and History

For many years, the Tourist Information Centre of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí has organized themed guided tours entitled “In the Footsteps of Frýdlant Cast Iron and Enamel”, presenting the past and present of the industrial sector that was important to the city’s development. The mobile tour “In the Footsteps of Frýdlant Cast Iron and Enamel” is approximately 1 km long and includes nine stops. There is also a separate mobile tour, “In the Footsteps of Frýdlant Sculptures”, about local sculptures.

The “Gallery of Artistic Enamel and Cast Iron” presents the history of enamel production in Frýdlant as well as historic cast iron from the 19th and early 20th centuries. The Ferdiš Duša memorial is located in the cultural centre of Frýdlant nad Ostravicí.

The Church of St. Bartholomew was built between 1672 and 1690 and extended in the first half of the 18th century. Since 3 May 1958, it has been a protected immovable cultural monument. The Chapel of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary was consecrated on 5 November 1876. It was built in the Neo-Romanesque style and decorated with paintings, including a wooden ceiling; it also serves visitors as a place for spiritual and cultural needs.

Nature

The Lesní stezka Vyhlídka nature trail is 1 km long, has eight stops, and focuses on the local nature and wildlife. It can be reached directly by car; from Frýdlant nad Ostravicí railway station, it can be reached on foot in approximately 10 to 15 minutes.

The Naučná stezka Kamenec educational trail is 2 km long and runs along the banks of the Ostravice, with seven stops covering the history and nature of the area around the river. It follows the banks of the Ostravice between the Harcovský Bridge and the footbridge in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí towards Lubno.

Getting Around

The “Frýdlant n.O.–Ostravice” cycle route starts at the Tourist Information Centre in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí and runs for 23.4 km to the outdoor swimming pool in Frýdlant nad Ostravicí. It is suitable for families, electric bicycles, and bicycles with trailers.

A kite-flying event (“Drakiáda”) was held at Frýdlant nad Ostravicí Airport in October 2025 as part of a traditional open day. The 2025 Drakiáda documented a traditional exhibition of aviation and parachuting equipment and introduced the public to aviation and parachuting sports.
