Jistebsko: Holiday Apartments and Holiday Homes

Jistebsko combines a prehistoric mining site with the character of a scattered mountain village. The prehistoric mining site of Jistebsko dates from 5400 to 4800 BC and consists of extraction pits and processing areas. Stone fragments scattered around the site are considered waste from extraction and the production of semi-finished products. At the same time, several preserved log houses from the Jizera Mountains characterize the scattered village of Jistebsko.

Culture and History

Jistebsko has been inhabited for more than half a millennium. In August 1469, the village burned down and was rebuilt in the second half of the 16th century. The local history of crafts has also been preserved: historic glass-cutting and glass workshops known as “driket” can be found in Jistebsko. In 1852, Ferdinand Posselt founded a small porcelain factory in Jistebsko, which remained in operation for twenty years. At the end of the 1860s, the first glass-pressing workshop was established near Kilian Wander’s house; in the early years of the 20th century, several small glass companies operated in Jistebsko.

In nearby Krásná, the Kittel Museum presents exhibitions about Jan Josef Antonín Eleazar Kittel (1704–1783) and his era, folk medicine, herbs, and archaeology, including the Neolithic archaeological site of Pěnčín-Jistebsko.

The chapel in the cadastral area of Jistebsko was built in the mid-18th century. It was a station on an old pilgrimage route.

Nature

Several memorial trees grow in Jistebsko. The memorial lime tree known as “Lípa v Jistebsku” is listed as a protected tree in the cadastral area of Jistebsko; it was designated on 28 September 1989 under AOPK code 102007 and is a broad-leaved lime. A small-leaved memorial lime tree approximately 250 years old stands on the road from Krásná to Huť.

Activities

The Pěnčínská magistrála is a cross-country ski trail system for skating and classic technique in the foothills of the Jizera Mountains, and it runs through Jistebsko.

Geographical Location

Visitors usually reach Jistebsko via the main road from Železný Brod or from Jablonec nad Nisou.
