Friedstein: Holiday apartments and holiday homes

Friedstein looks toward Frýdštejn Castle: its best-preserved part is a cylindrical tower 15 metres high and 9 metres wide.

History

Frýdštejn Castle was probably founded by the Bibrštejn family in the second half of the 14th century. It was opened to the public in the 1990s after the surviving masonry had been secured.

Culture

The chapel “Kaple Krista Trpitele” was added to the list of cultural monuments on 3 May 1958. It currently contains votive paintings, a statue of the infant Jesus on the altar, and a replica of the statue of the suffering Christ.

Below Frýdštejn Castle stands a simple sandstone chapel dating from 1823, built in the style of vernacular Baroque.

Nature and trails

The tower of Frýdštejn Castle offers views of the surrounding picturesque landscape of Maloskalsko. A 12-kilometre section of the Golden Trail leads from Turnov via Drábovna and Frýdštejn Castle to Malá Skála.

The former smithy in Frýdštejn stands at a strategic crossroads of the former carters’ road and the Saxon road.

The surroundings of Frýdštejn include Maršovicky vrch, Černá Studnice, Pustina and Valdštejn Church. In the wider regional area around Frýdštejn are Ještěd and the Kaple Nejsvětější Trojice Church.
